Farewell 2010... Au revoir 2010

Happy Tuesday,  dear friends,

As this in between week goes by, we are about to say farewell to 2010.  During this time, I always find myself feeling like in a pause mood, enjoying this period as being different than all the other weeks in the year! A time-space that is quite unique, where the long road of the year that ends is behind us, and the crossroad of the year to come is just ahead of us.  I wondered what Tilda and Edwin would think about this period of the year and what would they be doing... As I mentioned in my latest post, I imagined them on Christmas eve, Edwin seriously wondering if he was going to complete his work; Tilda, my dear child, was in advance, unwrapping her gift! In this in between panel of my card, I have asked Farewell Tilda  and Heartbreaker Edwin to pose for this little mise en scène, in which we are expressing our goodbys to this year that went too fast, you could almost hear in the background this traditional song: Auld LangSyne ! Well I have Kenny J' music playing right now, and this song is on the CD!  Both stamps are available at Diana's Magnolia-licious store. Edwin seems serene, and restful... he probably was able to give Santa his lists right on time. Whereas Tilda, is shedding a tear, probably because she is getting a year older! (LOL) Or perhaps because her vacations are going much too fast for her...
I attempted to create a dreamy kind of scene, this is why I used manly whites, greys; I wanted to symbolize a neutral space, the crossroads where you leave behind a part of your life and head on to something new. I did not want to forget the holiday spirit, so I put a bit of glitter & sparkles. I have used only white cardstock embossed with Cuttlebug holiday folder to give the wall a tapestry look. The garland on top, is also from a Cuttlebug embossing folder, that I painted with Acrylic glitter paint ( a mix of white, silver and gold). The window is the same as in the first panel, and communicate with it. I took the picure of my card on a blue cardstock so you could see through the window! How happy I was to discover I could use my brayer to copy this tiny image in opposite! The gorgeous garland was cut with the Cricut Reminisce catrige, I cut the alphabet  & number with Quickutz. Edwin and the chair are colored with copic. I used the paper piecing technique to make Tilda's dress, stockings and apron, in 2 different types of cardstock (pieces from my stash).

thank you for visiting me, and always leaving me such wonderful and encouraging comments. I love you all and wish you a wonderful end of 2010. (I should post Friday the 3rd panel of this card! The arrival of 2011 will be the theme.

I will enter my card in the following challenges:

Danielle, this is a gorgeous card and yet it tells a story just by looking at it.. yes we are loosing a year wether it was a good or bad one or good one and going onto a new year and are we afraid? Yes, I think we are.. what will the next year behold.. I think Edwin is thinking that as we all are... No one want to get older like Tilda either.. so you have done such a great job.. Thank you for sharing..
Hugs, Jean

Absolutely superb, Dani! You are so right about this week between Christmas and New Year's being a time to reflect, to visit the high spots and low of the past year and to look ahead to the new coming year and what lies ahead. I'm very thankful for meeting you as this year closes and looking forward to an even greater friendship in the new year...hugs, Barb

Ooooh Danielle!!!! How perfect is this scene you have created?!? I know exactly how you feel about this week (although for me it doesn't begin setting in until the 28th as the 27th is my birthday! But as soon as my birthday passes it hits me that another year has gone and then I get excited about what the new year will bring!)
Just divine! :D

Danielle, what sweet scene, or should I say bittersweet...chokes me up a bit seeing Tilda with a tear rolling down her cheek. Is the New year almost here already? This one went by so fast it seems. Marvelous job you did with the card. Love the scene you've created and your colouring is always superb.

Wishing you a fabulous New Year, my friend.
