Happy Wednesday,
I am not very present on my blog lately. It is summer, and I enjoy being outside, and ... playing with other techniques & toys... like knitting and bead weaving. I will show my projects soon. Today, I would like to share with you a little project I did for my DIL. She asked me to create a special presentation for a poem. After, several attempts to create transparency, I found the effect I was looking for by using alcohol ink (adirondack - Rangers) in my airbrush, on a canvas board. I started spraying pure ink in the light colors, and gradually went to the dark night blue. in between coats, I sprayed pure Alcohol blending solution to create added shades. Then, when it was dried, I sprayed goosebumps to give extra texture and a discreet glossy & shimmery look. I am sorry for the poor quality of the picture, but this honestly the best I could do!
I printed the message on velum paper, used Spellbinders grand nestabilities LF-246 to cut a nice label shape, and embossed. My velum was heavy enough to support the embossing, but it is a very fussy paper to work with. My problem was to find a way to glue the shape onto my canvas without the glue showing! I tried several kinds of glue, but the vellum did not like! it either showed or crinkled the paper. I only had one more option: hide Kool Tack under the inked borders. My next bad luck occured when I wanted to put a little glittery stroke close to the borders of the shape... by adding stickes. As soon as the glue hit the paper, it crinkled it! So... if anyone has THE glue solution for velum, I would love to hear from you!
The magnificient diecut corner is from Cheery Lynn Design (Victorian romance flourish DL151), cut in 3 samples, glued on one another, inked with Distress Milled Lavender, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire, then embossed with clear powder (3 coats) and a pinch of holographic powder on the first coat, the borders with inked with acrylic paint Dabber in Pearl.
I also discovered that vellum is not so easy to picture! What a temperamental Paper LOL! thank you for your visits, and your lovely comments that bring lots of joy to me! May your day be pleasant!

Sounds like the vellum gave you a real challenge, but.... Looks to me like you won the battle Danielle. This is totally gorgeous! WOW this appears heavenly! As usual you did a phenomenal job!

Danielle, your background paper looks fabulous! I love how you explore new stuff and then sharing it with us. Makes me want to try, but don't have an airbrush--they're so darn expensive...LOL.
Sorry, can't help you with the glue.
Hugs,
Normar

Spectaculaire!! Tu as vraiment gagner la bataille Danielle!
I sure would love an airbrush to try something like this. Your background that you created is fabulous. You are too hard on yourself. I really love it. I also love the scroll in the corner.
Hugs maz
Beautifully done Danielle. I know your daughter-in-law will love it. What I love most about your talent is how very inventive you are. You try all kinds of thing and they always turn out well! Isn't it time for another book? I sure did enjoy The Sound of Music!
