The Craft Barn Alpha challenge - 2-Letter C

thank you for swinging by ! Today I share with you my creation for the Craft Barn Alpha challenge. The letter is  "C". Impossible for me to chose anything else than CHAMPAGNE! Being my husband's name, and the one I share with him for 35 years. So, bubbly will it be! I played with transparency and texture for this project. I first glued many of my dictionary pages together, thus making a more stable base for my project, Ah! experience is slowly coming in with mix-media, also becoming less intimidating. I searched google for inspiration and here is  what I came up with.

Merci de votre visite! Aujourd'hui je partage avec vous mon projet pour le Craft Barn Alpha Challenge. C'est la lettre C qui nous est proposée pour ce 2e défi, alors C pour CHAMPAGNE, c'est un incontournable pour moi! parce que c'est le nom de mon mari que je porte depuis 35 ans. Et que j,adore le champagne, c'est pétillant! c'est donc cette sensation qui  est le point de départ de mon inspiration. Côté techniques, je veux jouer les cartes de la transparence et de la texture! Pour cette 2e page, je n,ai pas fait la même erreur que dans mon premier projet,  j'ai collé 3 pages ensemble et laissé bien sécher avant de les enduire de gesso! Ah! l'expérience entre un petit peu, et le mix-média m'intimide moins! C'est sur google que j,ai cherché mon inspiration...  et voici où elle m'a conduite!

My favourite champage is Moet et Chandon, but if the drink is delicious, the label of the bottle is not inspiring. It is  to the Perrier Jouët Belle Époque bottle that I owe my inspiration! I printed both label and image of the bottle on acetate; the map of the Champagne-Ardenne region was printed on parchment paper.

Mon champagne favori est le Moet et Chandon, mais s'il est délicieux, l'étiquette de sa bouteille, bien que chic, n'est pas dutout inspirante! Je suis complètement tombée sous le charme de la  bouteille de Perrier-Jouët, appellée Belle époque, qui est non seulement magnifique, mais dont l'étiquette était parfaite pour mon projet. J,ai imprimé l'étiquette sur acétate, ainsi que la bouteille que l'on distingue sur la page de droite. La carte géographique est imprimée sur papier parchemin.

I created my background by adding distress ink in Shabby Shutter, Spiced marmalade, Dried Marigold, Walnut Stain and Vintage photo; to create the bubbly effect I used a spellbinder stencil. the glossy effect comes from spraying Gose Bumps over my work, and spreading a bit of stickles. I cut my letters with a Quickcutz alphabet.

J'ai encré mon fond avec les distress, Shabby Shutter, spriced marmalade, Dried marigold, Walnut Stain et Vintage photo; c'est un stencil de Spelbinder qui a servi pour créer l'effet de bulle. Pour donner une texture pétillante, j,ai vaporisé du Goose bumps sur ma page, lorsque sec, j'ai tout simplement passé l'éponge avec du Walnut Stain. J,ai coupé mes lettres avec des découpes alphabet de Quickutz.

I decided I would start my Christmas cards early this year LOL I am sharing with you on this snowy saturday in Montreal, a very pretty image from Wild rose Studio, called Christmas Puppy that I love so much. I made the card to play at Addicted to Stamp challenge that has a very lovely sketch. My image  is stamped on x-press blending card, colored with copics. My papers are from MME, Winter Wonderland.

En ce beau samedi tout enneigé, j'ai décidé de commencé ma prodution de cartes de Noël tôt! La carte que je partage avec vous aujourd'hui, est conçue selon le sketch proposé par Addicted to Stamp Challenge; mon image, que je trouve adorable, s'appelle Christmas Puppy, de Wild Rose Studio,  est étampée sur x-press blending card, coloriée avec mes copics. Mes papiers sont de MME, Winter Wonderland.

The Craft Barn ALPHA Challenge - Letter V

                           

Hello Dear blogging friends!

I am late this afternoon publishing my latest venture! After visiting Chris Dark's blog last week, and reading about her joining the Craft Barn Alpha challenge starting earlier this month, I went searching for a dictionary and decided to embark upon this journey of mix media discovery! I found a little french-english Robert-Collins dictionary, a very different size I am used to work with. And read  the V section in english! I was instantly inspired by the word Valentine! I would certainly be out of my comfort zone, but I would bring a friend along, Tilda, and would not feel too lost!

Je trouvais la formule vraiment amusante. Je me suis trouvée un vieux dictionnaire français-anglais, un format avec lequel je ne suis pas dutout habituée de travailler et je ne suis pas allée très loin, le mot "valentine" a tout de suite attirée mon attention, et je me suis mise à la tâche. Le mix-media me sort vraiment de ma zone de confort, moi la perfectionniste! mais j'ai amenée avec moi une amie pour ne pas me sentir trop dépaysée: Tilda...

Working on such poor quality paper is an adventure in itself, cause everything can happen! I used gesso on my pages, then used distress inks, stamped my images and dare using Crackle paint to give an antique look. Well... what do you know, gesso did not like crackle paint, I was loosing pieces! I gave a chance to Triple Thick glaze to settle everything, and it worked, but the paper became fragile! Well, next time I will know what to do! You will recognize Tilda with dot bow, and Bonny Tilda from the Love collection, colored with copics;  the other stamps used are from different collection of Tim Holtz, Stamper's anonymous. the lovely die cuts are from Make it Crafty.

Travailler sur un papier non conçu à cet effet est en soi une aventure! J'ai étendu une couche de gesso sur mes pages,  encrer avec des Distress, étamper mes images à l'encre noir, puis j'ai osé une couche de Crackle paint... bien elle et le gesso ne s'aiment pas beaucoup! La craquelure était parfaite, mais  s'écallait, alors pour m'assurer de ne pas tout perdre, j'ai recouvert mes pages d,un glacis brillant. C'est alors que mon papier est devenu très fragile! Vous reconnaîtrez Tilda with dot bow, et Bonny Tilda de la dernière collection Magnolia Love 2013, mes images sont coloriées aux copics; les autres étampes sont de Tim Holtz, Stamper,s Anonymous et les découpes de Make it Crafty.

The cute little Bonny tilda, I enjoyed coloring nude skin, and chubby behind! it is also possible to see the crackled background, the cute film strip and the heart die cut.

La mignonne Bonny Tilda en gros plan, j'ai adoré colorier un nu, surtout les petites fesses toutes dodues! il est possible de voir la bande de film, les craquelures, et la découpe en coeur.

Extended Project - Un projet de longue haleine...

thank you for visiting me this morning! for my first post of the year, I would like to share a very special project that I worked on all through last year, in between everything else, but doing so, I had so much pleasure. It all started one night on October 2011, when I was cross stitching this sea side scenery and my friend Cathy Lynn, skyped me; I showed her what I was doing and she loved it, so I told her, I will make it for you. When completed, I tried imagining how I could present it to her in a very original way. The  cross stitched piece then became  the jacked of a "something"!!! then, I found the lovely paper collection that I used to cover the pages, that are folded envelopes. Finally, from a treasure book, it became an agenda,following the pictures, you will go through all the pages, their secret pockets!

C,est mon premier message, et je partage avec vous un projet exécuté de longue haleine tout au long de l'année dernière.  Tout à commencé avec ce paysage marin au point de croix sur lequel je travaillais un soir d'octobre 2011, alors que mon amie Cathy Lynn m'a "skypé" - je ne connais pas le terme français! Lorsque je lui ai montré mon travail, elle a beaucoup aimé; alors, je lui ai dit que je le ferais pour elle, sans trop savoir comment j,allais lui offrir. La broderie est devenue la couverture; une série d'enveloppes, les pages; une collection de papier dont la thématique était les Béatitudes ont décoré les enveloppes et amenée le thème; et le tout est devenu un petit agenda, rempli de pochettes secrètes, de petites étiquettes et de petits mots! Vous allez découvrir le contenu à travers cette série de photos..

La couverture de l'agenda, qui se ferme au moyen d'un ruban passé au travers  de chacune des "tirettes". vous pourrez voir le détail dans une des photos plus loin.

                                           

I enjoyed doing the skeleton of the book very much, it was made with material, glued on half of a roll of tissue paper, with pieces of butcher string. following an easy to follow tutorial, you can find here.

J,ai pris plaisir à créer cette reliure - que j,ai adapté à mon projet, faite  avec du tissus, collé sur un demi rouleau de papier, avec des insersions de corde pour faire les bourrelets. Le tutoriel se trouve : ICI

Illustrating the months of January and February, is the lovely Ragged Angel from Mo's Digital pencil. She is colored with Faber Castel pencils.

Each month has a section, with a little card, and a much bigger tag that is slipped behind the cover of the page; both sides of the tag are decorated differently, for each month. I used the Magnolia `Doohickey, So wrapped, the secure the little handle, I have cut and glued a piece of hard acrylic packaging, perfect to slip the ribbon through. the tags were cut with my Cricut.

Lorsqu'on ouvre la page, il y a une section pour chaque mois, une petite pochette avec une carte dans le pli intérieur, et dans l'enveloppe qui forme la page, une grand étiquette, décorée de chaque côté, portant une petite tirette fabriquée avec le tag de magnolia, So wrapped, qui cache un petit morceau d'emballage en acrylique pour la solidifier. C,est à travers cette petite poignée que je passe le ruban. Les étiquettes sont coupées avec ma cricut.

It is Angel with kitten that makes the cover for May and June, colored with Faber Castel, in pretty peach color.

C'est l,adorable Angel with kitten de Mo manning, qui nous amène en mai et juin. Elle est aussi coloriée avec les faber castel, dans des teintes de pêche.

I used Peel offs to decorate both pages, in gold.

J,ai utilisé des Peel off pour décoréer les pages intérieures.

Since I tried to choose an image that would complete each of the Beatitudes, I thought this lovely magnolia Japanese Tree of Luck was perfect to illustrate "heaven".

Puisque chaque section est introduite avec une des Béatitudes, j'ai tâché de trouver l'image qui l'illustrait le mieux, ainsi l'image de magnolia , Japanese tree of luck, est un paradis en soi.

Urchin with bird takes us to September and October, bringing in cold weather, I could not resist putting a bit of white stuff at her feet!

Septembre et octobre nous invitent à la miséricorde, et je crois que Urchin with bird en est l'image parfaite, bien qu,elle soit un plus d'hiver!

Again, some peel off to decorate, and the wonderful JoyCraft  Corner No. 6002/0135.

I went again with the beatitude, to chose my image, I thought that Hope really looked like she needed some comfort! she is colored with Faber caste, and the gold shadow behind her is made with Glamour Dust, Gold glitz, from Deco art.

Novembre et décembre sont 2 mois totallement aux opposés... l'un pour ses deuils et l'autre pour ses réjouissances. C,est Hope  qui semble avoir tant besoin de réconfort qui nous amène vers ces 2 mois. L,ombre dorée derrière elle, est faite avec du glamour dust, de déco art, couleur Gold glitz. Elle est coloriée aux Faber Castel.

Before I mailed the book, I added a cute book plate with her name the inside cover, and decorated some all the pages opposite the image, some I have not taking in pictures. I am very happy to say that it made it home safely to Pennsylvania, and is in the hands of its rightful owner. I was privilege enough to share with Cathy the very moment when she opened the box, because she skiped me. Needless to say it was a very emotive moment for both of us. I hope you enjoyed your visit! I will be back with a few cards, and a knitting project in a near future!

Juste avant de mettre le livre à la poste, j,ai ajouté un ex-libris à l'intérieur de la couverture, décorée quelques pages en plus, desquelles je n,ai pas de photos, un peu pressée par le temps. Je suis très heureuse d'écrire que Cathy a reçu son livre en très bon état. J'ai pu en être témoin via Skype. Ce fut une session émotive pour toutes les deux! J,espère que vous avez aimé votre visite!

Rétrospective -2012 - Card review

In my personal life, my year end "statement" is scheduled on November 22! this is a rendez vous I do not miss. It seems to me that time flies too fast, upon reading the overview of  some fellow bloggers yesterday, it reminded me that I should do the exercise again, as it is fun! So... here are my 12 coup de coeur of 2012...

À chaque 22 novembre depuis des années, je fais le bilan de mon année! c'est un rendez-vous avec moi même que je ne rate jamais. Artistiquement parlant, je retourne rarement en arrière, mais après avoir visité quelques blogues , je me suis laissée tenter par l'idée de faire ma rétrospective artistique de l'année 2012, comme je l,avais fait l,an dernier. L'année a passé trop rapidement, il me semble... Alors, sans plus tarder, voici mes 12 coups de coeurs.

I have chosen this card for Sweet Tilda hiding a little gift, because pink is my favourite color, for the dramatic effect of black. I just love how I did her dress.

pour Tilda qui se fait cachottière, pour le rose, et le noir dramatique. Parce que j,aime comment j'ai colorié la robe de Tilda.

A country side scenery, in a beautiful summer day, just like I love them.

Jeans, straw hat, and nature. 

Red for its glory, it's warmth, a color I just love, but do not use often.

 Un petit air champêtre, une belle journée d'été, chaude comme je les aime, et un chapeau de paille! et le rouge, que je n'utilise pas souvent, mais dont j,adore la chaleur et l'éclat.

Pour la couleur pêche, Tilda et son pot de fleur qui à ce jour est mon image préférée, parce que cette carte a été créée pour le plaisir et pour ma maman!

I chose this card because it gathers some of my favorite things: A beautiful summer day, exploring the world around me, the sun, the flowers and the ladybugs!!!! Also for this big bow, a bit of my "trademark". 

Celle-ci parce qu'elle réunit ce que j'aime beaucoup! La gaité d'une journée d'été, l'exploration du monde qui nous entoure, et les coccinelles, le soleil, des fleurs et une grosse boucle, ma marque de commerce!

So much tenderness comes out of this card, my first one with Bella, that I love so much.

La tendresse d'une maman, la couleur mauve, fleurs et papillons; et la découverte des images de Bella avec qui je suis tombée en amour.

It all started with the underwater scenery! I love this card for the creative experience it gave me, for all the coloring, and putting the embellishments together!

Celle-ci pour l'exercice de coloriage et de création inspirée par le paysage sous marin. Je me suis vraiment lâchée lousse, et ce fut un plaisir de concevoir et d,imaginer cette carte.

this one for the color yellow! I love yellow, however, it is a color out of my comfort zone!

Le jaune... c'est une couleur que j'adore, mais qui me fait sortir de ma zone de confort!

I added Beanstalk Tilda at the very end! I was very happy because I could give Tilda this worried look on her face, and for the cute pearl drops on the leaves! I love how I colored the threatening sky, the pretty earth tones and the green, that I do not use often.

Pour avoir réussi à mettre sur le visage de Tilda une expression d'inquiétude, pour ce ciel annonçant l'orage, pour les teintes terre, et le vert que je néglige dans mes coloriages.

Ah!!!!!!!!! Milly, from LOTV,  She is sooo cute, I discovered Milly because of Claudia! and immediately fell in love with her, and her pretty little face! I love this card for the beauty of the sky!

Je suis tombée en amour avec Milly, de LOTV, et avec elle, je triche parfois Tilda! cette carte pour illustrer l'espoir et la beauté du ciel étoilé.

Fall is my favorite season, I love when everything turns orangy! I also love the original style of this card, inspired by the paper.

Jouer avec la couleur orange, tout à fait hors de ma zone de confort, pour l'automne - ma saison favorite et pour le style original de cette carte inspirée par le papier!

This very last one, speaks to my heart. I wanted to color so much this image, because it reminds me of my dad, who loved fishing. I also love the peace that I was able to give to the image, and with the colors. Aqua is unusual for a masculine card, and I am happy of the turnout of this one.

 Celle-ci pour la variété des textures, pour l'image qui me rappelle mon papa et pour la paix qui s'en dégage, pour les éléments décoratifs et le côté masculin de la couleur aqua.

I would like to offer you my very best wishes on this special day, and thank you for your support, you most appreciated comments, and most of all for taking a few minutes of your so precious time to visit me on my blog.

This morning, I would like to share with you a special card I created for a beautiful lady I met though my aunt. She wanted something unique to offer to her grand-daughter, she calls affectionately her angel, who is studying to be a nurse. Little Tilda sweetly came to me, and took me by the hand through this creating process.  A soft world of aqua, frost and glitter surrounds my little Tilda.

Je viens partager avec vous ce matin, un ensemble réalisé à la demande spéciale d' une dame extraordinaire rencontrée tout récemment par l'entremise de ma tante, et qui veut l'offir à sa petite fille, qu'elle surnomme son ange. Little Tilda de la collection Little Christmas 2012 s'est imposée d'elle-même à moi, et m'a entraînée dans un monde de turquoise et de blanc, de givre et de brillants pour apporter les voeux à cette jeune fille exceptionnelle qui étudie pour devenir infirmière.
