Sound of Music Album... The end.

Good Saturday dear friends,

Finally, I have been able to come to an end with my Sound of Music album, if Canada Post can collaborate, it should be in the hands of Elise pretty soon. Get yourself a good coffee or a tea, cause this is going to be a looooong post with losts of pictures.

J,ai mis la touche finaleà mon album La mélodie du Bonheur, si Poste Canada collabore, Elise l'aura dans ses mains très bientôt. Alors, servez vous un bon café, ou un bon thé, car c'est un long message, avec beaucoup de photos.

 For the last pannel, I chose the scene where Captain Von Trapp sings with his family, just before he is planning to escape. The song I have chosen was just perfect to close this mini album: Good bye, Farewell, auf Wiedersehen!  My printer was defective and I was not able to print the lyrics on an acetate to complete my scene. Computer problems can be just frustrating sometimes.
J'ai choisi la scène où Capitaine Von Trapp chante avec sa famille, et prépare sa fuite à l'entracte.  C'est la chanson Good Bye, Farewell que j'ai illustré pour ce dernier tableau. Je voulais à tout prix imprimer les mots de la chanson sur de l'acétate, mais mon imprimante ne collaborait pas du tout cette semaine... Nous avons réglé le problème, j'espère.

It is Edwin and Tilda  (loving couple stamp from the Wedding Collection) that  look tenderly at their youngest child, Gretl ( Farewell Tilda, from the the bon Voyage Collection) singing Goodbye, Farewell to the audience, who have no idea that the Von Trapps are planning to escape. Isn't Tilda adorable?
Ce sont Edwin et Tilda ( Loving couple de la collection Wedding) qui obsevent tendrement leur plus jeune enfant, Gretl, ( Farewell Tilda de la collection Bon Voyage) qui chante Goodbye, Farewell, à un public très attentif, qui n'a aucune idée du plan de fuite des Von Trapp. N'est-ce pas qu'elle est migonne cette Tilda?

I have used Magnolia "Bird Background" from the Sweet Rainbow Collection ( Thank you Rene) for the very last pannel, I thought it represented so well the freedom and life itself,  Captain Von Trapp was seeking when he escaped his homeland. I colored this gorgeous image with crayons and solvent. The shading around the image was done with Distress inks, (Scattered Straw, Broken China, Faded Jeans and Walnut Stain.)

Pour le tableau qui sert de tirette à cet album, j'ai colorié "Bird Background" de la collection Sweet Rainbow, image que m'a fait parvenir Rene (Merci). Je trouvais qu'il représentait si bien, la vie, l'espoir, la liberté, dont rêvaient Maria et Capitain Von Trapp pour leurs enfants. Je l'ai colorié aux crayons et taltine; l'ombrage autour de l'image est fait avec les encres Distress, (Scrattered Straw, Broken China, Faded Jeans, et Walnut Stain.)

INVENTORY CHALLENGE NO. 31 - Accessories.

Good afternoon dear blogger friends,

Better later than never, but Blogger was not sweet with me, I lost all my draft message. Christina and I welcome you to our 31st Inventory Challenge, featuring the use of accessories only. I had something in mind, however, problems got my computer KO, HP support services  were very very patient, but not too efficient. My problem is not solved, but I can use my computer.

Vaut mieux tard que jamais, mais Blogger ne m'a pas épargnée. J'ai perdu la totalité de mon message. Il me fait tout même plaisir de vous accueillir avec Christina pour notre 31e défi, pour lequel notre carte doit comporter que des accessoires. J'ai eu quelques ratées avec mon ordinateur cette semaine; la patience du service de soutien de HP n'a pas suffi à régler mon problème qui persiste, mais je peux au moins utiliser mon ordinateur.

All this is very time consuming and frustrating. So, in order to meet ends,  I decided to cheat. I will not present a card, but rather the use of accessories in a scene. Remember my Sound of Music album?Well, I will present you today, the scene where Captain Von Trapp sings Edelweiss with his children in front of the Baroness Elsa Schräder and Max Deitweler, and of course Maria.  There is something magic in this scene, an ambiance I wish I will be able to recreate. The interior trouble of Maria feeling something strange, the perspicacity of the Baroness who notices, and the Captain in a moment of clear vulnerability. I wanted to tease with the room decor, but could not resist showing the completed pannel. Can you hear Edelweiss in the background?

Ce contre-temps m'a retardée beaucoup. Alors, j'ai convenu de tricher pour ce défi. Je ne vous présenterai pas de carte, mais plutôt l'utilisation d'accessoires dans une scène. Vous vous souvenez sans doute de mon album la Mélodie du Bonheur? J,ai donc profité du fait que je ne savais pas s'il me serait possible d'afficher ma carte pour travailler sur cette section de mon album. Ce que je vous présente aujourd'hui, c'est la scène où Capitaine Von Trapp chante Edelweiss avec ses enfants devant la Baronne Elsa Schräder et Max Deitweiler, ainsi que Maria. Il y a une ambiance magique à ce moment dans le film que j'espère avoir pu recréer, Un moment où le capitaine affiche une vulnérabilité certaine, la rêverie de Maria qui ressent quelque chose d'étranger pour elle, et la perspicacité de la Baronne, qui vient de comprendre. Bien entendu je ne vous ferai pas languir et vous présenterai le décor, ainsi que la scène complète avec tous les personnages.

INVENTORY CHALLENGE no. 28 Tilda-Maria gets married - Le mariage de Maria

Good Friday!

It is Good Friday today, hopefully we shall pray very hard to see spring raise from the dead on Sunday!  A bit of humour to start this day helps, after the terrible weather we had this week, I just hope that the sun comes out and stays long enough to warm up my old bones. This week, Christina and I are happy to welcome you to a challenge featuring such a romantic theme: Wedding. Rene, who made this awesome suggestion, was cetainly  inspired by  the Royal Wedding. Who can resist the romance around a royal wedding?

C'est Vendredi Saint, et j'espère que nous allons toutes prier très fort pour que ressuscite le printemps dimanche! Un peu d'humour pour nous aider à avaler cette température affreuse que nous avons eue toute la semaine. Je souhaite que le soleil se pointe le bout du nez, et reste assez longtemps pour réchauffer mes vieux os! Christina et moi vous accueillons à un défi tout en romance: notre thème est un mariage. C'est Rene qui nous l'a proposé , elle a sûrement été influencée par tout le tralala qui entoure le mariage royal. Mais qui de nous peut résister à la romance du mariage d'une princesse?

I thought it was a perfect occasion to add another page to my Sound of Music album: the wedding of Maria to Captain Von Trapp. I tried to recreate the scene where Maria leaves the convent and Mother Superior along with the other nuns stay behind the gate. I was able to find only one little nun that had a suitable attitude to represent Mother Superior, and lack of space limited me in terms of items I can put in my scene, as the pages shrink in size considerably the more I get near the end. ( being a waterfall album, le last pages are only 3" wide, increasing to 5" for the first one).

C'était pour moi l'occasion idéale d'ajouter une page à mon album sur la Mélodie du bonheur, le mariage de Maria et du capitaine Von Trapp. J,ai essayé de recréer la scène où Maria quitte la mère supérieure, la clôture se referme sur elle et elle remonte l'allée vers son futur époux. Bien entendu, compte tenu de l'espace dont je dispose, j'ai dû me limiter. (étant un album cascade, plus j'avance, plus les pages sont étroites.) J'ai pu trouver une petite religieuse et une clôture qui convenait très bien à la scène.

I used Wedding Tilda and Groom Edwin to represent Maria and Captain Von Trapp, Lady Tilda is Liesl,  Tilda in veil  is Marta and Flower girl with petals Tilda is Gretl, all from the wedding Collection; the church window is from the Easter Collection 2009,and the wall background is from Impression-Obsession. I found the fence image on the net, and sized it properly. I used acetate with alcohol ink to imitate stain glass. Tilda and Edwin are stamped on Arches watercolor paper and colored with inks. Little Tildas are all colored with copics. The wall and window are colored with crayons.

C'est  Bride Tilda et Groom Edward qui tiennent les rôles de Maria et Cpt. Von Trapp, Lady Tilda is Liesl,  Tilda with veil is Marta and Flower girl with petal is Gretl, toutes de la collection Magnolia Wedding 2010; la fenêtre vient de la collection de Paques 2009, and le mur de brique est une étampe Impression-Obsession. J'ai trouvé sur internet la clôture et cette image de la religieuse, les grandeurs d'origine ont été modifiées pour s'ajuster à mon image. Tilda et Edwin sont coloriés avec l'encre distress, sur papier Arches. Les petites Tilda sont coloriées aux copics. Le mur et la fenêtre aux crayons de bois.

SOUND OF MUSIC - LEARNING TO SING WITH MARIA - TILDA --- La mélodie du Bonheur, une leçon de chant avec Tilda/Maria

It is raining in Montreal today... a perfect weather for crafting! I am continuing my exploration of the   functions I learned in photoshop: draw-erase and re-size! OH! boy! did  I ever have fun shrinking! I felt like the nutty scientist Wayne Szalinsky in HONEY! I shrunk the kids... My first application had to do with finding a lovely mountain landscape to serve as background for the Von Trapp family learning to sing with Maria. I am telling you, the web is rich with coloring images. I selected two lovely drawings, unfortunately, I have no idea what  coloring site I took them from. I resized them to fit the pages of my mini-album. I even managed to have them look as one... I printed them on SU murmure blanc cardstock, and colored with the coloring pencils I won't name and Taltine, Yippe... I am now four pencils closer to Faber Castel!

Il pleut sur Montréal aujourd'hui, journée parfaite pour travailler sur mes projets. Je continue mon exploration des seules fonctions de Photoshop que je connaisse! soit, dessiner-effacer et changer le format d'une image! Et cette fois, je m'en suis donnée à coeur joie! Vous vous souvenez de Chéri, j'ai rapetissé les enfants? bien, j'ai trouvé sa potion magique! Il me fallait trouver un paysage convenable où Maria pourrait enseigner les rudiments de la musique aux enfants VonTrapp. Google Image est une fonction à connaître ... j'y ai trouvé des images de coloriages fantastiques. J'en ai choisi deux, que j'ai pu retravailler et adapter au format de mon mini album. J'ai même pu les modifier pour faire croire qu'elles ne formaient qu'une seule image. Cependant, je n'ai pas idée du site sur lequel je les ai trouvées...Je les ai ensuite imprimées sur le carton murmureblanc de SU, et coloriées avec les crayons dont je ne dirai pas le nom. Youppi, je suis maintenant à 4 crayons plus près de mon ensemble Faber Castel!

                        

 Then, the fun began. I needed 7 children to accompany Tilda-Maria and sign DO-RE-MI... and they had to be in different sizes, from tiny Gretl to teenage Lisl.  All images are printed on cryogen white paper, and colored th Copics (youppi! I did not sneeze). To illustrate the song, I used acetate, and a lovely musical staff also found in coloring images on the web.As I did not have the proper acetate to print it, I just reproduced it with a permanent liner, colored with alcohol inks. The letters are old lettraset I kept from my secretarial years! Enough blab bla... there it is! Doest it make yoy feel like signing with Maria?

Ensuite, ce fut le TEST! Il me fallait 7 enfants pour accompagner Tilda-Maria en chanson. Et, il fallait les organiser en rang de grandeur, s'il-vous-plaît, de la mignonne Gretl à l'adolescente Lisl. Toutes les images sont imprimées sur cryogen blanc, et coloriées aux copics. Pour illustrer la chanson, je me suis servi d'un acétate sur lequel j'ai calqué une portée musicale, aussi trouvée dans les images du web, coloriée avec les encres à l'acool. Les lettres sont des lettraset, souvenir de mes années de secrétariat. Voilà, je vous présente ce nouveau feuillet du mini-album La Mélodie du Bonheur. Est-ce que cela vous donne envie de chanter avec Maria???

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y... I was able to complete this long waited for sequel to Sound of Music album. But considering the difficulty of placing 7 VonTrapp kids into a 5 X 5 1/2 square, and the numerous unfortunate trials that ended up in my wastebasket, it's not so bad! Thank's to Sharon Cauddle's idea of a staircaise that inspired me right away, I would still be playing around with my ideas. I found this wonderful staircase in a construction dictionary, and it was set as example to illustrate all  the "vocabulary" related to staircases. Thank's to my son, who initiated me to wonders of Photoshop and who was so very patient with me, I managed to remove all unecessary characters, reduce it to proper size and then print it. Then came the selection of my characters, the coloring; 7 kids, 5 girls and 2 boys. Constructing something that would look like the VonTrapp hall, was quite a challenge too. Well, enough bla bla, here it is...

Finalement j'ai accouché de la suite de la Mélodie du Bonheur. Considérant les difficultés que j'avais, je trouve mon délai raisonnable! Placer les 7 enfants VonTrapp dans un carré 5 X 5 1/2 n'est pas chose simple. N'eut-été de la suggestion faite par Sharon Cauddle, -- Merci Sharon -- de créer une scène d'escalier, j'allais  abandonner l'idée de placer autant de personnages dans un si petit espace. Mais je n'étais pas au bout de mes peines, j'ai trouvé l'escalier qui convenait dans un dictonnaire de construction, il servait d'exemple pour illustrer tout le vocabulaire de l'escalier. Merci à mon fils, qui m'a initié aux merveilles de Photoshop et qui a été très patient avec moi, j'ai réussi à enlever toutes les écritures, à réduire et à l'imprimer. Puis j'ai choisi mes personnages, je les ai étampés, coloriés: 7 enfants, 2 garçons et 5 filles.Le défi de construire un scène qui rappelait le manoir VonTrapp, me plaisait. Assez placoter, voilà...

In this first scene, it is the first meeting of  Maria - Tilda with Captain VonTrapp - Edwin. Both images are stamped on Arches paper with Versafine, and colored with Distress. Vintage couch is colored with Faber Castel and Taltine. I don't remember what collection my papers are from, I just  picked leftovers of the appropriate color.I have taken the lines that accompany the scenes in the song "I have confidence in me".

Dans cette première scène, c'est Maria - Tilda   qui rencontre Capitaine VonTrapp - Edwin, ces 2 images sont étampées à la Versafine sur papier Arches-aquarelle, et coloriés à l'encre Distress. Le sofa est aussi une image Magnolia, de la collection YOu are so special, il est colorié avec Faber Castel et Taltine. J,ignore la provenance de mes papiers, ils sont de mon panier à chutes. J'ai tiré les extraits de la chanson "I have confidence in me".

Right next to it, the children are observing the meeting from the staircase.  I have colored my images with Copics (Yessssssssssss, without sneezing this time, and with an opened window).I hope I have been able to give this scene the proper depth. The very unconfident Maria meeting the very impressive Captain with the whistle, and all 7 children very determined to get rid of this oher governess. Juste à côté, les enfants observent la scène de l'escalier. J'ai colorié mes mages avec les Copics, ouiiiiii, avec la fenêtre ouverte, malgré le froid, mais sans éternuer!J'espère que j'ai pu donné à ce table l'ambiance qui régnait dans le film. L'hésitation et le malaise de Maria devant l'imposant Capitaine au sifflet, et les enfants déterminés à chasser à nouveau une autre gouvernante. À vous de me le dire... My Sound of Music mini album is coming along quite well. I have organized all remaining scenes, still need to color some images, associate the scenes with the lyrics,but I am happy with the progress. Today, I present you Tilda - Maria facing her destiny outside the walls of the convent. She has been assigned by Mother Superior to take care of the  7children of Captain Von Trapp. I have chosen a very simple layout, leaving all the place to Tilda, alone, facing her destiny. She is no longer inside the protective walls of the convent, and she certainly have doubts about herself, and the upcoming events. The wonderful doorstep is an image that was given to me by a dear friend, (thanks Cathy, I can't help thinking about you when I color!) I embossed the back wall with a cuttlebug folder and distressed it with Black Sooth ink.   Let's go meet her sitting on her luggage, and wondering what this day be like...

Mon mini-album sur la Mélodie du Bonheur progresse. J'ai orgaisé les prochaines scènes, choisi mes personnages, associé les paroles de chansons, mais je dois entreprendre le coloriage de ces images. Aujourd'hui je vous présente Tilda-Maria face à son destin, assise sur sa valise, alors que viennent de se fermer sur elle les portes rassurantes du couvent. La mère supérieure lui a assignée une tâche de  gouvernante à la famille VonTrapp. Elle s'apprête donc à rencontrer le capitaine et est pleine d'incertitudes, mais se convainc qu'elle a confiance en elle. La porte close, le gris des murs, expriment bien la fermeture sur un monde dont elle ne fera plus partie, et qui ne lui apporteront plus aucune protection. C'est pourquoi j'ai voulu garder cette scène très simple, pour laisser la place aux émotions ressenties par Tilda-Maria seule, devant l'inconnu. La magnifique porte est une image qui m'a été offerte par Cathy, une amie très chère. J,ai embossé le carton gris derrière avec un plioir cuttlebug, puis j'ai sali les parois avec de l'encre distress, Black Sooth.  Allons à sa rencontre, alors qu'elle se demande de quoi cette journée sera faite.

Inventory Challenge No. 21 - FOLLOW YOUR DREAM...

Christina and I are once again welcoming you to our Inventory Challenge, No. 21, Spring colors. This is a very special challenge for us, because we are dedicating it to our very sweet and mega-talented friend, ELISE. She is about to undergo surgery and we thought the theme for our challenge was so appropriate because spring denotes renewal and revival. We wanted to do something to raise her spirits and let her know that we will keep her in our thoughts and in our hearts. Good luck, Sweet Girl!!!!!

C'est à nouveau le temps de notre Inventory Chalenge No. 21, ayant pour thème Couleurs de printemps. C'est un défi tout à fait spécial pour Christina et moi, ce matin, parce que nous l'avons dédié à Elise, une chère amie et une artiste de grand talent. Elise est très courageuse, et devra subir une opération la semaine prochaine. Puisque le printemps est symbole de renouveau, il était donc tout à fait approprié pour l'occasion. Nous voulons ainsi l'encourager et l'aider à garder un bon moral, et surtout lui dire qu'elle est dans nos pensées et dans nos coeurs. Bonne chance chère Elise, nous sommes avec toi! 

For my card, I was inspired by the Sound of Music. A few weeks ago, I had the chance to see the musical, ever since, I have been singing some of the lyrics. There was my inspiration. I wanted to create a multiple scene card.  I came across a tutorial for a waterfall mini album., this would allow me  enough space to stage a few scenes of this inspiring story. All was going smoothly, I chose my images, started coloring them; until I started sneezing, not just ordinary sneezing: violent sneezing (LOL). I though it was just a temporary problem, until evetime I opend a copic, it went worse... OMG... I thought I was going nuts, but no. GOOGLE gave me a perfect explanation: an overdose of copic fumes!!! and I am not the only one OUF. I recognize I have very sensitive breathing system, but never thought I would be affected by the ethanol contained in Copics. My son confirmed this fact, some artists do have respiratory problems with alcohol markers. Well, I have not tried yet, I let my nose rest! But will certainly find a solution...

La semaine dernière, je suis allée voir La Mélodie du Bonheur, et c'est ce qui m'a inspirée pour ce projet. J'ai utilisé la technique du "Waterfall" pour créer mon mini album; ce qui me permet assez de pages pour créer quelques scènes. Tout allait comme sur des roulettes... J'avais choisi mes personnages, trouvé des passages de chansons pour accompagner mes scènes. J'étais à colorier, lorsque soudainement je fus prise d'éternuements, violents et incessants. Et chaque fois que je posais la pointe d'un marqueur sur mon papier, ça reprenait de plus belle. Il y avait un lien avec les Copics, qui pourtant n'ont pas d'odeur prononcée. J,ai bien un système respiratoire assez sensible, mais de là à réagir à des marqueurs, il me semblait que c'était assez exceptionnel. Eh! bien non. il y a des artistes qui doivent "aérer" l'endroit où ils travaillent, certains portent un masque. On développe une hyper-sensibilisation à l'éthanol contenu dans les Copics... J'aurais donc fait une "over-dose" de Copic... J'en ris, et je vais me trouver une solution. Non, je n'abandonnerai pas.

Enough bla bla, my card now! I chose Tilda wants a hug to represent Maria signing Climb every mountain in the first scene. Isn't she perfect for the role? I framed the scenery,using a tutorial I found on Nadyne's blog, for a frame-card. I modified the mesures, because I did not want anyhing too deep, because inside, there will be all the waterfall system. I used Magnolia die cuts for the swirl, the tag and the leaves. I made my little roses. The embossing was made with a Stampin Up embossing folder. As soon as my printer is back in operation, I will amend my post, in order to see the sentiment that should be on the tag. (The text of the song I have chose is: Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow, Till you find your dream..."

Assez de blabla, à ma carte maintenant! Pour cette première scène, j'ai choisi Tilda wants a hug pour incarner Maria qui chante Climb every Mountain. N'est-ce pas quelle est parfaite dans ce rôle? J'ai encastré le paysage dans un cadre. J'ai vu sur le blog de Nadyne un tuto pour faire une carte-cadre, j'en ai modifié les mesures, car je ne voulais rien de trop profond, étant donné qu'il y aura à l'intérieur tout le système de cascade! J,ai utilisé des découpes de Magnolia pour l'étiquette, les feuilles et les volutes. J,ai réalisé mes petites roses. L'embossage est un plioir de STamping Up. Dès que mon imprimante fonctionne, j'amenderai la photo avec le sentiment approprié sur l'étiquette.
