Blooming Through the Seasons - 1

Bon Jeudi!

Happy Thursday!
Today, I would like to share something different with you. An on line class, that I had put on ice, because I could not find what I wanted within this project. I had tried in October 2014, but although the result was nice, I was left empty, instead of happy! I thought long about this, and found I felt prisoner of the instructions, and minded to reproduce exactly the suggested project. I was unhappy because I could not do the same. I thought that this type of project was definitely not for me, and forgot about it. Last January, I was looking for something different to do, and came across this class. I decided to give it another try, with another approach. In this Blooming through the Season class, Jamie Douherty suggests an art journal page for each month, staging a girl, a flower of the month, different media etc. Although, Jamie provides a template, I definitely did not want to use it. My aim, was to draw a face, with similar features, but not copied exactly. I wanted to remain within the theme suggested, the posture, but exploring it my way. The whole adventure took me by surprise, and I am very happy of the not only the outcome, but the whole experience! I am sharing here January and February Bloom girls. I am presently working on March.

Voici Mademoiselle Janvier.
Below is Miss January. The flower of the month, the carnation, was omitted from my page! I was pretty much in over my head with the collage; But I really liked drawing 3/4 profile features.

Here is Miss February, the inspiration came from the drawings of Margaret Keane, who was famous for drawing paintings with Big Eyes.  It also reminded me of Twiggy, for those who remember mid sixties style! For this project, I used crayons.

Hi Danielle! Two beautiful pieces of art and I'm very happy that you found a way to make the class work for you, i know how hard it can be to get past creative obstacles! You sound as though you really enjoyed making them and your drawings are masterful, I love them. Chris x

So happy that you gave this art another chance. You did an outstanding job on both! You of all knows that your art comes from your heart and we don't duplicate exactly what others say. Yes they can suggest ways to do something but that is only advice. What we do with the advice is our own style! I think it boils down to inspiration. So keep up the inspiration and keep on creating from within! It's always a joy to visit you! Hugs, Cathy

Hey Sugar -- I really cannot imagine you getting in over your head! How long (years)have I told you that I truly believe that you are a real artist. I see that Chris follows you and she is one of my favorites. We are our own worst critics. I only wish I could wave a magic wand over your head so you could see how really talented you are. But you must keep going no matter if you like it or not. You just have to or you deny us the joy of seeing your creations. Do you hear me!!!!!
Love You --
Sandy xx
