Happy Wednesday,
At Scrapbook ta Vie, we offer a class featuring Cards à la Danichou. Lately, ladies asked for embroidery technique on cards, so Valerie and I decided on a Christmas card, with a simple but most lovely design.
I merged Tilda with dangling star, from the Merry Christmas 2010 collection, and a lovely Christmas wreath from Stitching cards on one image, printed on Bristol vellum, and colored with wood pencils. (it is important to work on a sturdy cardstock in order to obtain a nice result with the embroidery, and Bristol vellum, is perfect).
My papers are from Echo Park, Season's greatings, all embellishments from my inventory. The lovely tag is from Spellbinder, Fancy Tags, and was cut in 3, glued together, in a medium weight kraft cardstock; I inked with Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, and Soft Suede from SU, added Versamark Dazzle, in Champagne, and embossed with clear powder, several times. the SU sentiment and leaves were stamped with White Stazon ink.
Inside, I love including a little pocket, that I decorated with the same tag, as on the front of the card; the next page, features an embroidered sentiment from Stitching cards. I used a lighter cardstock, and did not get as nice results as with the thick Bristol, especially after distressing, inking and embossing the edges!. I would not recommend this light cardstock, the embroidering does not come out as nice and straight!
I hope it will bring you to try this fun technique!

OMG, this is a work of art. I can see the amount of work you put into this. And you beat me to it! I've got 'paper embroidery' on my to-do list, but who knows when I'll get around to it--although you make me want to try it NOW...LOL. Fabulous colouring--love the light and shadow effect. Love the treatment you did on the label--it's been quite a while since I did any heat embossing. The embroidery work on the inside of your card is remarkable. It can really be a card front itself. Fabulous job you've done. Love it!!!
Hugs,
Norma
Hey sweet Danielle - your Christmas card is lovely and the inside looks pretty nice too. What fun - learning how to stitch on cards. I want to learn mixed media. It will be a while before I can get downstairs and really play. So good to see this beautiful card!
